It really has been three years

One would think that I would have accomplished my goal- after three years...well you would be wrong. I don't know what happened, when I fell off the wagon of healthy - I fell long and far. Well- I've gotten my mojo back. I have a very long way to go, and with some of the goals I have in mind- not a lot of time to get there. I started going to an aqua zumba class- AWESOME!!! It is a great workout for those of us who need some cushioning - although I must say, I do not have any rhythm...water or no water- this girl is no dancer. However, you may see some video's here shortly of what I will be doing to begin again. Maybe, I can finally hold myself accountable by writing it out. How about it folks..ready to take that journey... So from here on out....well at least till goal is within reach. I pledge- not to succumb to pizza even if it is New York Pizza from Wesley Chapel, no more chocolate, of any kind- ;-( no more pasta, bread, cookies, in fact it's going to be smoothies 3 times a day- except on my anniversary- sorry gotta eat that day, so here is the compromise, two smoothies, and real food for dinner? No popcorn, buttered or not, no more soda. I do promise to work out- my aqua zumba at least three times a week- and twice a week its kettlebells, aren't you excited too? Now the goal- well, there is something that I will be working towards- I am not just a blogger- but a Toastmaster Member too. In just a few short- well one short and one long speech, I will earn my Distinguished Toastmaster award. I've been a member of Toastmasters for only 2 years; it has been a great adventure thus far. That's it for now, just re-pledging myself to be back to becoming not only healthier but also fit..and trim. So, friends, strangers, come watch me shrink .....

exercise

I have found two types of machines that I like to exercise with. Both use water as weight resistant. A rowing machine and some type of machine that works the arms.
I am sadly up to only 2 minutes on the rowing machine and 2 minutes with the arm. However on the arm, I can use forward or backwards motion. I feel as if I am using a swim stroke type of motion. I am still trying to work on my sugar addition. I have found at publix their brand of yogurt in some creative flavors- fat free. Today I tried coconut cream pie, and I have tried the carrot cake one. All so far are very creamy and ymm...
I also work on my legs, thighs to be exact- inner and outer. reps of 10 each. And a stomach work out, 10 reps. Getting there slowly.
Still working on food. I have a couple of recipes I want to work on before publishing them.
Got at least my profile pix posted. Working on the full length so that you can follow as I slowly reduce the weight.

Sugar addict

I am rather perplexed as to how I can pass up bread, and chocolate candies, and yet- real desserts- I will go to great lengths to add. This week has been overly stressful, and my go to stress has been Pies, gooey concoctions of whipped peanut butter surrounded by a rich chocolate icing and cakes. On Wednesday I purchased a slice of sweet potato pie. It was at work, and the cafeteria was selling home made sweet potato pie for 65 cents. I found that in my car. I took my time and savored every single morsel. Let me tell you if I could have scoured for more change, I would have gone back for seconds. I don't believe they sold out- so today is a second chance. Just kidding- budget won't allow. However I think I have found a healthier substitute. Target has come out with wonderful fat free yogurts with flavors such as Boston cream pie, carrot cake and strawberry cheesecake, Carmel apples...those are the ones that I tried. They are low in carbs, and no fat. The taste is very flavor full, and creamy. On the Carmel apples, I add 1/4 cup of granola- and wow...carmelishous. It has the tang of Granny smith apples, Carmel, and with the granola almost like a apple crunch pie.
I have not been on my bike, but lots of walking and still trying to get to that 100 ounces of water.

slippery slope

In the past week, I have gone down a very slippery slope. While bread of which used to be my down fall- until detox, it seems that it is now cake with thick gooey frosting. I don't know why either, as I was not much of a cake person- pie's oh yeah bring them on. Especially fruit pie.

Also the stress as really been mounting this week. I did turn to beer. While I did not purchase a 6 pack, I did no less than three times this week break down and purchase a Foster's "oil can". It tasted so very wonderfully and absolutley thirst quenching. Where does that fall in budget...they were on sale..3 for $5.00. I feel that I am getting closer to a more budget friendly grocery list. I do make lists...and attempt to stick to it.

Along with the beer, I also spurlged on a vegan cheap book, and a non medical soy powdered shake drink. I simply mix with my almond milk. Also on sale was yogurt. Not my activia...however 20 for $10.00 could not be beat. It was actually two different brands so I was able to get 10 of each. One was yoplate and the other was light and fit. Some wonderful flavors...strawberry cheesecake and key lime. So will be mixing that for two meals is my goal for this week.
With the second trip today- cat food was needed...it was 65.00. I made buttermilk pancakes with fried eggs and strawberries for breakfast. Rather than syrup, I used agar. It is a natural sweetner and has a syrup consistancy. While it is much most costly- it is used more sparingly than one would syrup. So it can last and be used in many receipts.
I hope to be back on track, and with a few more menu items to help save cost. As I have found, that budget and healthy do not go together. So stay tunned....please write...would like to have other's thoughts.

I have not forgotten about the pic's...I am working on it. I promise, one of these blogs you will be surprised.

no gain no loss

Well, the last few days have been not bad, but not good. Bread still seems to be wanting back into my life. As I found the 100 calorie buns in my freezer- happy to say they are all gone now. On Tuesday I came the closest ever to reaching the required water drinking level.
Last night I splurged on mussels. I bought a pound for 5.00. Well almost a dozen of them did not open. And come to find out that neither of us really like them. Wasted almost 10.00- we steamed them in white wine and garlic. To be served over the quoino pasta. Nice thing is we were ok without tomato sauce. We simple added some garlic and olive oil.
I need to buckle down and accept exercise as my friend. It's tough when I need to work more hours...ok I'll stop as that is an excuse isn't it.
I feel I need to get the meal replacement drink, and use it for at least 2 meals. The most challenging part is only 1 serving of fruit. But if by the end of the month- I can toss off another 5 pounds I will consider it a success.
Activia has "desert" yougarts. We tried the blueberry cheesecake. It was 100 calories, and since I can only have 150 in my dairy- that was a tough one. We did get the blueberry flavor- not so much on the cheesecake, however it was creamer than most yougarts. There is another brand which has the "desert" flavors and do it so much better. So just buy the light activia as its only 70 calories. For me not worth the extra 30.

back on the wagon

The last two days have not been bad. I have controlled my bread lust. However struggling with the butter.
Lot's of water, however I know that I've not reached the 100 ounces.

Tuna was yesterday, for lunch. However only used half of the 100 calorie breads. Which saved room for the other half later on.

Today was left over chili, and then huge salad for dinner. Grocery budget is getting better. Not where I would like it, but better.

Today's salad was easy- 1/2 bag of frozen kernel corn 1 15 oz can of black beans and black eye peas- drain, then rinse. * hint, if you rinse them well then it elevates the gas later.
chop up 4 green onions with half of the green parts. grate 2 teaspoons of ginger, add 1/4 cup of grape seed oil, 2 teaspoons of glazed balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup red onion, 1 glove of garlic crushed. Mix all together. I served it over some lettuce, added an avocado, and tomato. Ymm... very cheap and filling.
Corn- non brand name .99
Black Beans .99
Black eye Peas .99
Onion (green .79
Garlic (3.20 lb) .89
Ginger (3.99 lb) .50
avocado 1.29
Red Onion 1.00
lettuce 2.99

This all comes to 10.43. If you needed to buy the grape seed oil and the glazed balsamic vinegar- add additional -9.00 for the oil and 6.00 for the balsamic vinegar. Remember for these items a little will go a long way.
If you are not sure how you feel about ginger- just get a very small piece. If you don't see one, well it's ok to break one nub off. Again a little ginger goes a very long way. The salad was enough for dinner for two, and will have plenty to take to work for lunch. With lunch I will add in some canned albacore tuna. Healthy eating.
